What's new
Every improvement to Matchly, newest first.
-
0.10.0
Added
- A way to support Matchly with a small donation, through Ko-fi.
Changed
- Matchly is no longer called a beta, and is free for now. The terms of use and privacy policy are updated to match, with a short section about donations.
-
0.9.0
Added
- Matchly has its own icon: the ball logo in browser tabs, bookmarks, and on your phone's home screen when you add Matchly to it.
Changed
- Players entering results is now a choice. New competitions start with only the organizer entering results. Switch on "Players enter results" in the settings to share the score keeper link. Players can then fix a typo for an hour; after that only the organizer can change a result. Competitions that already had a link keep it.
- Leagues can have up to 64 participants (knockouts stay at 128), and an account can create up to 10 competitions a day.
- Safer accounts: changing or resetting your password now signs you out on your other devices.
- Matchly limits how often it sends verification and password reset emails, so nobody can use it to flood someone's inbox.
- Names can be at most 80 characters long.
- Easier for everyone to use, including with a keyboard or a screen reader. Scores and the bracket work with only the keyboard.
- Clearer contrast for grey text, green buttons and win/loss badges, in light and dark mode.
- Screen readers now hear headings, winners, the current page, and messages like "Saved." and "Copied!".
- A "Skip to content" link, and a button to pause the live updates on a public page.
- Every page now shows its own name in the browser tab.
- Links to Matchly look better when shared in WhatsApp, Facebook and other apps: a picture, the page name and a short description. A shared competition shows its own name.
- Easier to find in search engines, especially the free bracket generator in English, Dutch and French.
Fixed
- An open score link of a deleted competition now says the page is gone, instead of showing an error.
-
0.8.0
A thank-you for early organizers.
Added
- The beta deal: start a competition during the beta and enter at least one result, and you get premium free for 12 months when the beta ends. It's shown on the home page and when you create an account.
- Your dashboard shows whether you've already earned the beta deal.
-
0.7.0
Clear about your data.
Added
- A privacy policy and terms of use, in English, Dutch and French. They explain what Matchly stores and why, which cookies it uses (only the necessary ones), and what we promise early users: a year of premium for free when the beta ends.
- Links to both in the footer and when you create an account.
-
0.6.0
A free bracket generator, no account needed.
Added
- Free bracket generator: make a knockout bracket or league schedule in seconds. Byes and seeding are handled, winners move on by themselves, and you can print it. It's kept in your browser, nothing is sent to us.
- Save and share turns your bracket into a real competition, results included, with a live page for your players and a link to enter scores.
-
0.5.0
Better privacy for players.
Changed
- Public competition pages, player pages and score links no longer show up in search engines like Google. They still work for everyone you share the link with.
Fixed
- Creating an account no longer fails when the confirmation email can't be sent right away. You can send it again from the confirmation page.
- Avatars show at most two letters, so long names like "Café De Omgekeerde Wereld" fit (CW), and pairs like "Lotte & Wout" show LW instead of L&.
-
0.4.0
Matchly now speaks Dutch and French.
Added
- Matchly in Nederlands, Français and English. Pick your language in the account menu, or at the top of public pages and the login screen. Your choice is remembered.
- New visitors get the language of their browser.
- Emails, such as the one to confirm your address, arrive in your language.
Changed
- The emails to confirm your address and to reset your password are rewritten: personal, clearer about why you get them and how long the link works, and with a green button.
- The menu at the bottom of the sidebar is tidier: feedback sits with the other links, and the language is in your account menu.
-
0.3.0
Tell us what you think, right from the app.
Added
- A Send feedback button in the menu for ideas, problems and questions. Every message is read. You can send up to 3 messages a day.
Changed
- New accounts confirm their email address before getting started. This keeps fake accounts out.
- Public pages of running competitions now check for new results every minute. After an hour without any activity they pause, until you tap to refresh. Finished competitions no longer refresh at all.
-
0.2.0
Power rankings become optional, and the app gets its name.
Added
- Switch power rankings on or off per competition, when creating it or later in the settings.
- This changelog page.
Changed
- Power rankings are now off by default for knockouts, where they say little.
- The app is now called Matchly.
Fixed
- The page no longer changes width when switching between a competition's tabs.
-
